General Information: Sencha Kakegawa is a premium variety of green tea made from the leaves and buds of Camellia sinensis. It is grown in the Kakegawa region of Japan, renowned for its high-quality tea production. Unlike oolong or black teas, Sencha Kakegawa undergoes minimal processing, preserving its natural flavors and antioxidants. This tea is well-known for its refreshing taste and numerous health benefits, contributing to its popularity worldwide.
Medicinal Use: Sencha Kakegawa, like other green teas, is rich in antioxidants, particularly catechins such as EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate). These powerful compounds are associated with a variety of health benefits, including enhanced brain function, fat loss, and a reduced risk of cancer. Regular consumption of Sencha Kakegawa can also improve dental health and lower the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
How to Use: To prepare Sencha Kakegawa, begin by heating water to around 175°F (80°C) to 185°F (85°C) – avoid boiling the water. Pour the hot water over the tea leaves or a tea bag in a cup or teapot. Allow the tea to steep for 1 to 3 minutes, depending on your preference for strength. After steeping, remove the leaves or tea bag, and enjoy your tea plain, or add a slice of lemon or a touch of honey for extra flavor.
